Amba Sign
Our family spent 2018-19 in Sri Lanka. We fell
in love with a tea estate called
Amba and befriended the owners. While
holed up at Amba after the Easter terrorist attacks I had the pleasure of
designing an impromptu welcome sign and building it on the spot with the local welder
(Deepani) and his equipment from the Mesozoic era. Note Deepani's safety gear and
anvil, all delivered by tuk tuk! The last shot shows the sign encased in plastic to become Vesak
lanterns.
