Spalanzani's Parasol
This sculpture functions as a rain shelter and shade structure. As the
crank on the central tower is turned, the structural spine and supported panels arc from
one side to another travelling over fifty feet of curved track. The piece was commissioned
by the Port of Portland for their new headquarters building atop the long term parking
garage at the Portland International Airport.
