These 2 guardrails are part of the Portland
International Airport Concourse C Expansion Project in Portland Oregon. When the cast
bronze handgrips on the rail are touched, the opaque LCD glass below is electrically
switched to become clear. The imagery etched in glass and hammered in bronze is of
concentric circles - cross sections of trees on one rail and waves radiating from
raindrops on a pond on the other rail. Commissioned by the Port of Portland.
