Trees/Rain
These 2 guardrails are part of the Portland International Airport Concourse C Expansion Project in Portland Oregon. When the cast bronze handgrips on the rail are touched, the opaque LCD glass below is electrically switched to become clear. The imagery etched in glass and hammered in bronze is of concentric circles - cross sections of trees on one rail and waves radiating from raindrops on a pond on the other rail. Commissioned by the Port of Portland.
