A COLLABORATION WITH
ARCHITECT YIANNI DOULIS
These three shelters are part of the Fall Creek
Hatchery Research Center's interpretive program. The shelters orient themselves to the
views, opening up to welcome visitors walking along the path. The salvaged douglas fir
timbers and naturally patinaed copper evoke the colors of the forest and the glint of the
creek, while their form abstracts the bones and skin of the salmon swimming just below.
Each shelter brings rain to the ground in a different way, creating a sense of delight and
surprise. Commissioned by Oregon Dept of Fish & Wildlife thru the Oregon Arts
Commission.
